Having a 47 year old house on a hilltop subject to some strong winds and rain it has a few roofing areas that needed an expert review but following some neighbours bad experiences with local builders (expensive and poor finish and usually untidy and noisy) I have delayed getting quotes. Charlie has recently moved his expert roofing business to the area so I thought I would give him a try. Initially I needed a quote for tracing and rectifying a leak into my conservatory ceiling which I thought was from a quite complex box guttering system (he soon established that was not the cause) and de-mossing the roof tiles on the house and garage (that builds up badly each year due to very course concrete roof tiles and birds make a mess looking for insects in it).
Charlie did a very complete ladder inspection without the need of expensive scaffolding, took photos to show me the extent of issues and identified in addition to the demossing quote that was very reasonable, a number of additional areas like loose ridge tiles, cracked flashing, rotting and on the verge of leaking - bay window roof but more importantly (due to his experience of the most likely causes of my conservatory leak) that it wasn't to do with its guttering but with the adjacent substandard garage roof flashing that was a allowing water to run down internally into the adjacent conservatory.
He gave various costed options to suit my budget - a mix of complete replacement (bay roof), mortar repairs (ridge tiles), permanent replacement or more temporary sealing repairs (flashing). There was no pressure and allowed me time to consider options and costs. All quotes were fixed prices so no unexpected extras.
He has done a brilliant professional job in a timely fashion to suit my timetable in particular the bay roof (looks neat and well finished) and a neat upgrade of lead flashing to resolve the conservatory leak and importantly - taking away all the redundant old bits leaving it tidy.
It is clear from discussions with him that he is an experienced roofing expert who keeps up with all the latest roofing technology for both domestic and industrial roofing and which seem to present no obstacles for him. Thoroughly recommended.
Thanks for the roof repair. I’ve sent photos of the uncleaned mess left behind. I’ve never experienced this with any service before. Burned substances were scattered on the garden floor, and the residue won’t come off with normal water, leaving a darker stain. Please ensure better service or reconsider operating without proper experience.

I have personally reviewed all photographic evidence of the property before and after the works had been carried out. The "burnt" substance you have referred to in fact was aged felt that had been removed from your roof to enable our staff to carry out the works agreed. I have fully noted that the property was not cleared to our companies standards which should have been done, we had a trainee labourer on the job that day and sadly he failed to tidy up properly after. I can confirm that since then all staff has been further trained on what is required from Core Roofs to ensure our customers are fully satisfied. Again, I am sorry that you were disappointed in this instance and we only hope that we receive your custom again in the future.
Charlie came out quickly to handle a follow-up repair on my roof and did an excellent job. Charlie is a true professional who takes great pride in his work. He was responsive, reliable, and communicated clearly throughout the process. I highly recommend him for any roofing needs!
